Veterans Day

At the Veterans Day Parade we had the honor of being joined by one of the last two remaining WWII Navajo Code Talkers, Sgt. Allen Dale June. He is a member of our detachment.

We had a good showing for the parade. Leading the Parade was Marine Chris Hahn and his wife Rachel. The detachment had three vehicles in the parade and were joined by the Northern Colorado Recruiters.
Members of the detachment in red from left to right are Terry Wright, Charles Nibblin, Doyle Biggs, Tom Buchanan, Alan Woodhams, Jack Ashley and Abel Herrera.

Survey/Volunteer/Profile

To make sure we are meeting your needs as a detachment we need to know what you would like and what you would like to be a part of. We have one thing in common and that is that we served in the United States Marine Corps. For many of us that was a long time ago and a lot of life has happened to us since we left active duty. We have all walked different paths and have a variety of life experiences, skills and interests. We can sit in meetings and not really know the person sitting next to us. With that in mind there is a profile form that asks just a few questions that may help us get to know each other a little better.

Please take a moment to fill out the forms and bring them to the next meeting or send them to the address above. The two short forms are on one page and can be downloaded here. Survey/Volunteer/Profile Form

The flag bin was installed on September 1, 2008 and there has been a steady flow of flags being deposited in the bin.
The bin gets emptied twice a week. So far we we have collected 460 flags for proper disposal.
We receive quite a few 6 x 10 foot flags that are in pretty fair condition that would make good candidates for flag retirement ceremonies. If you know of any Scouts that would like one have them contact me.
The flags have ranged in size from tiny toothpick size to a giant 20' x 38' garrison flag.
Needless to say this is a great service to the citizens of Loveland who have shown their appreciation and respect for our flag by using the disposal bin.
